Black Hole
Black Hole Disintegration Oil On Panel 4'x6' Feet Painting by Marcel Ohalmen
A black hole is defined to be a region of space-time where escape to the outside universe is impossible. The existence of black holes in the universe is well supported by astronomical observation. The inspiration for this painting came after a reading I had about the science of the black hole. The painting is about the cosmic science, and the nature, represented by the tiger, the landscape, and the butterflies. I wanted to do something extremely unnatural and surreal, like the tiger eating butterflies with hooks, making allusion with the principle of sucking in, of the black hole. Everything in the scene is being disintegrated in particles, collapsing, evaporating into the black hole. The scene is an attempt to describe what would happen if the elements in the picture approached a real black hole.
