~ Being a keen photographer and having dabbled with macro photography my curiosity was piqued

~ How did they achieve such beautiful close up photography images of such tricky subjects?

~ Little did I know how relatively easy it is to create beautiful macrophotography art with no camera photography ... yes no camera is used but instead a flatbed scanner technique ..

What is Scanner Art ?


~ Scanner Art or sometimes affectionately known as scanner magic

~ The technical term for scanner art is scanography or no-camera photography

~ it is a digital artform that utilises photo scanners and image scanners to create work of art

~ it is a type of macro photography art , allowing for very beautiful macro close ups of your chosen subject

~ Placements and arrangement of your macroart subjects can be either random for a surprise abstract art effect or carefully choreographed for the closest representation of your creative art idea

~ Unlike taking a macro photo with a traditional camera, this form of macrophotography utilises a flatbed scanner which captures an image by slowly moving both the light and the lens across the chosen art subject

~ it allows for different kind of in one elongated time exposure

~ a funny take scanning my funky turquoise trouser leg and adding a smiley face in paint shop pro afterward

~~~~~~~~~~~Creativity Help Guides Online Milliande Scanner Art Gallery ~ a simple scan of a white fluffy feather which appears almost suspended in the air ~ this feather was simply put on a flat bed scanner with the lid left open and scanned at a dpi of 300 ~ tiny speckles of dust were removed afterwords as this type of macrophotography art shows up even the tiniest particle

~ this was a fun scan of my daughters amazing fossil finds ~ this fossil shell only measures less than a centrimeter and came up with beautiful detail in the macrophotography art scan ~ I imported the scan photo into my paint shop pro program, copied it, duplicated it then flipped the duplicate to the other side and I juxtapositioned them togehter ... ~ then I add some discreet faces which made them look like lovers... giggle

~ ohh this one nearly had me beat ~ I held a large crystal ball suspended over the scanner and it was soooo heavy .. and the flat bed scanner sooo slow .. ~ by the end I was huffing and puffing and the end esult was not even that great ... ah I love art experiments , really i do ;-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Milliande Scanner Art Gallery

~ another suspension trick which I think came out pretty cool ~ I used fishing line again and suspended a quartz crystal pendulum which had a point over the flat bed scanner .. ~ the slight movement of the pendulum combined with the reflective light made for an interesting macrophotography art piece ~ Milliande Free Online Art Classes Scanner Art Part 1

~ another clingfilm scanner art with a circle drawing template scanned on top ~ in paintshop pro with circle select tool cut out a portion of the original art scan

~ feather and plant pieces scanned - pieces layed on top of clingfilm and small water droplets added with dropper bottle for reflection effects in the scaner art piece

~ scanned with clingfilm and crircle drawing template ~ large black cricle cut out later in paint shop pro

~ raw egg shell scanned art , egg shell stuffed with a feather , some moss and 2 raisins ( see scanner art class 2)

~ portion of the above scanner art cut out in paint shop pro
