Mixed Media Art Questions for Milliande
Hi Milliande,
I found your video on You Tube about the altered book love shrine. I really loved the outcome of your project.
I was wondering what you used on the inside of the book covers for the box frame? I assume you used the same thing for the box frame and the little box on the inside that hold the mirror?
anyway, I'm hoping you can help me with this.
I really love your site and your tutorials. You have inspired me to work on my own art journals!
Thanks so much,

I did this shrine in a class with Michael DeMeng where we literally used whatever we had to hand to make it fit our junk yard finds ..
So if I remember rightly part of the book structure was made using a cut down broom handle ...sawed into to small pillar like pieces..and the outside frame structure was made with mountboard pieces cut to size and glued to that with strong E3000 glue
I like creating structures for box like frames with heavy grade mountboard..as it is lightweight, still retains a certain amount of flexibility that lets me mold it to the outer altered book frame yet remains relatively stable when glued together to some support pillars ..which can either be round shaped or square shaped pieces that are fixing the height of the box on my altered book
I am hoping to do a video of making one of my altered books soon ..so stay tuned
hope this helps

I am intriqued by the notion of universal consciousness and choose to peek closely at the small particles that make up existence.
Human and living form cell biology, the interplay of microcosm and macrocosm, quantumphysics and the spiritual connection to the Self all nurture me with an endless stream of inspiration.
The female form and its nature of being, the beauty of motherhood, viewing the world in fragments rather than wholes and the palpable energy exchange and communication between them are central themes in my artwork.
I enjoy making the invisible visible and creating openended visual artworks that invite the viewer to explore deeper within their own layers of perception.
Contemporary Mixed media art techniques provide a rich playground for my artistic impulses and allow room for an individual approach to the multilayered facets of my artwork.
