Art Stores in London ~ Craft shops around Kensington, London

by Sharon
(Leicester)

Mixed Media Art Questions for Milliande

Hi, hope this is the right place to post this question. I'm coming down to London in a few weeks, mainly to visit Lord Leighton's house in Kensington, but it would be lovely to be able to visit a super duper craft shop to stock up on supplies whilst I'm in town. Do you or anyone else know of any must visit shops around Kensington, or near a tube station that I could visit? I will be parking down near Highgate tube station and travelling in on the tube and any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks-

Mixed Media Art Questions answered by Milliande

Hi

London has many art type places but not many craft type places that specialise in general crafts ..

There are a couple of great beading supply stores.. one in Carnaby Street one just off Covent Garden.

Cass Art , the flagship store in Islington ( that is right next to the Angel Tube ) is a 3 story art supply store that has the whole basement full of craft supplies and they also stock Golden Art Paints as well as lots of general art supplies.

It is relatively easy to get too although it is a distance away from Kensington.

If you are into Knitting there is a cute unusual Knitting supply shop near the flagship store in Islington as well as it being a nice area for a fancy meal and a bit of window browsing ..

The Knitting Shop is called Loop

There is a smaller Cass Art Store near Kensington , but I have not personally visited it .. you could check on their website for more details

There is another Art Supply Shop in South Kensington, but again more art than craft ... they are called Kensington Art Supply

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a dedicated Rubberstamping Store which carries many of the mixed media inkpads etc called Bladerubber which is right outside the British Museum and relatively easy to get to by tube .. but about 25 min away from Kensington
The London Graphics Centre is a large Art Store right in the center of London .. in Covent Garden which carries many pens, graphic and art supplies
Other Fun Shops to try are the Flagship Paper Chase store and the John Lewis on Oxford Street both carrying art and craft stuff
Hope this helps, let me know whehter you are looking for any more specific things :-)
