I have used the JoSonja gel medium, mentioned in earlier posts. Jo Sonja gel medium gives the artist more "open time" to work with their paint, which is gouche acrylic. That explains the tackiness. I love their paints because of their versatility. Jo Sonja is made by Chroma.

answers...keep em coming! by: Anonymous
Thanks guys your answers are really great ...keep em coming! I am using a gloss gel medium to seal art journals, collage and altered book covers. It is summer here and even leaving them out in the 40+ deg day doesnt seem to dry away the tackiness. I dont know if that is "right" thing to use but I like the look. I am guessing most of the time, as out here in the country, I am my own teacher most of the time. I guess this is where communities like this are an valuable tool!Thankyou for any and all info! :)

Gloss vs matte by: Geraldine
Gloss medium is usually more 'tacky' than matte.
Are you using it on top of paper or as a glue? If on top of paper I would recommend you use the matte.
