Mixed Media Art Questions for Milliande
Hi Millande,
I have recently been trying transfers with clear tape, toner based photocopies and a gel medium on to fabric and am not happy with the results. I seem to have to re-apply the gel a couple of times, letting it dry between applications, for successful transfer but I am not happy with the texture on the fabric. Do you have any idea how I can get a lighter hand back to the fabric? I hate the tackiness that stays on the fabric.
Thanks!

Personally I have no experiences o transferring images onto fabric, although I have successfully transferred onto loose canvas which basically is a type of fabric
The best results I have obtained is definitely dependent upon the gel medium used .. for instance there are vast difference between using something like liquitex gel medium and golden gel medium ...they do not transfer the same nor give the same reliable gel medium transfer results
For me ..I prefer using Goldens soft gel medium for a grungey gel medium transfer look
If you are after a more clear transparent look then it is worth experimenting with Goldens Gloss Gel medium
All in all -- Gel Medium transfers are notoriously fickle ...the result being dependent on the surface to transfer on .. the actual brand of transfer medium used and the method applied ... Gel medium transfers are really an experimental art technique that has many variables that need to be taken into account .
hope this helps a little

I am intriqued by the notion of universal consciousness and choose to peek closely at the small particles that make up existence.
Human and living form cell biology, the interplay of microcosm and macrocosm, quantumphysics and the spiritual connection to the Self all nurture me with an endless stream of inspiration.
The female form and its nature of being, the beauty of motherhood, viewing the world in fragments rather than wholes and the palpable energy exchange and communication between them are central themes in my artwork.
I enjoy making the invisible visible and creating openended visual artworks that invite the viewer to explore deeper within their own layers of perception.
Contemporary Mixed media art techniques provide a rich playground for my artistic impulses and allow room for an individual approach to the multilayered facets of my artwork.
