Mixed Media Art Questions for Milliande
I have started on my first altered book sticking with Acrylic Medium but have read in a book binding book how to make paste with either wheat starch or instant rice I so far can only find this in the USA very cheap but of course postage is over the top. Cant find any in this country on the net. What are you thoughts on this. Thanks Jean
Mixed Media Art Supplies
Wheat Starch can be bought in supermarkets or specialist food stores that carry chinese food ingredients ..
here is an online supplier

I wonder whether they might have instant rice as well ..but have not heard of that before ..
For Bookbinding however I wonder how archival that is .. Ie because it is not created for art specifically does it actually " go off" as it were?
I presume in the olden days a lot of those products were used sucessfully in traditional bookbinding techniques.. but they books created with such a glue were probably no very longlasting yellowing with age and going brittle .etc
If it is for an altered book journal that is not meant to be kept or an heirloom etc.. I would give it a go , if it is meant to be sold or passed on I would prefer Archival bookbinding glue
Hope this helps

I am intriqued by the notion of universal consciousness and choose to peek closely at the small particles that make up existence.
Human and living form cell biology, the interplay of microcosm and macrocosm, quantumphysics and the spiritual connection to the Self all nurture me with an endless stream of inspiration.
The female form and its nature of being, the beauty of motherhood, viewing the world in fragments rather than wholes and the palpable energy exchange and communication between them are central themes in my artwork.
I enjoy making the invisible visible and creating openended visual artworks that invite the viewer to explore deeper within their own layers of perception.
Contemporary Mixed media art techniques provide a rich playground for my artistic impulses and allow room for an individual approach to the multilayered facets of my artwork.
