Mixed Media Art Questions for Milliande
I'd like to start journaling, but I don't know where to start. I am only a teenager, so I have limited resources but I have paints, pencils (watercolor) and oil pastels.
I'm not sure how to start!
Also, I'm looking for something I can incorporate ephemera into.

Hi,
~ starting a journal does not need any expensive art supplies, a few crayons and a simple journal book is all that is needed and it can be expanded on as you along
~ I would find an art journal book that I like as I intend to spend a lot of time with it ..I like paper and enjoy having a nice texture to it ... however if money is tight you could try making a junk art journal (
http://www.milliande.com/Milliande-Artist-Date-December-2008-Week-2.html) using up recycled bit ...
~ the one art supply I would invest in is GESSO it is a primer than can be added to old book pages, recycled junkmail and thin pages in cheap journals as a base coat and to make them stronger if you like using recycled journals
~ I am not much of a writer in my journals..I prefer to use visual and images...so collage old magazine pages that you like and simply create an artwork out of them ... there is no other reason to start other than that what brings you joy ..an image, a color, a memory ...a ticket stub that reminds you of a good time with friends maybe a photograph added and some doodled words ... colored with a few crayons and your first art journal page could be done :-)
~ I did a series of Art Journal Videos in January -- 28 days of play ..each day choosing whatever art material i fancied... so if you like to get inspired you like to take a peek there...
