Mixed Media Art Question - hole in my pocket

by Chris
(Seattle)

When we were kids we memorized this poem, There's a hole in my pocket, by a little boy. It was something like .....there's a hole and there's a string
and once I had a XXX ring
and through a hole I lost it one day...
and this is what I always say
A hole's the worst thing in a pocket
be sure to mend it when you got it.

Do you know this poem? I am off on a few of the lines and do not know the author. I am looking desperately for it.

Thanks for any help,
Christal Welty

Hi,

I am afraid I do not know who the author of this poem is ... I had a search around google but nothing seems to come up either ..

Maybe it was an old children's rhyme that was handed down .. but I personally have never heard it ..
It might be worth searching for " hole in pocket saying" , " hole in pocket rhyme" .. etc ...

Sorry I cant be of anymore help ...
