Sketch books - What Size is a good all round size ?

I have been making fabric covers for journals. I have sold many, many of these. Now I would like to make sketch book covers. (the idea being that once a book is all written on or sketched-up :), the user can simply place the fabric cover on a new book. My question is what size is a good size for the sketch books? My journals are 6 1/2 by 9, these work great.

Thank you.

Hi Judi

Interesting question, personally I like square journals 15 x 15 cm being my favourite size for travelling , or 25 x 25 cm for larger work at home.

I also use the small size moleskine journals mostly for sketchbooks daily, I am not familiar with what size that is but they use a rubberband to note down the last page...I am not sure how good a fabric cover would be for those sketchbooks ..

I do not like rectangle art journals but I think I am not typical there... I also dont often use ringbound journals but prefer stitched one ...

So I may not be the typical person to ask ...so I put it out here so that maybe other members of our art community can jump in with their opinions :-)

Good luck with your research

I am intriqued by the notion of universal consciousness and choose to peek closely at the small particles that make up existence.

Human and living form cell biology, the interplay of microcosm and macrocosm, quantumphysics and the spiritual connection to the Self all nurture me with an endless stream of inspiration.

The female form and its nature of being, the beauty of motherhood, viewing the world in fragments rather than wholes and the palpable energy exchange and communication between them are central themes in my artwork.

I enjoy making the invisible visible and creating openended visual artworks that invite the viewer to explore deeper within their own layers of perception.

Contemporary Mixed media art techniques provide a rich playground for my artistic impulses and allow room for an individual approach to the multilayered facets of my artwork.
