Mixed Media Art Questions - Ask Milliande ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
..."I would like to know the least expensive but most functional materials (surface, glue, any extras I need) needed to do a collage of professional quality for my first effort at making a marketable product, using found paper, cloth, ribbon, etc, no paint
Thanks in advance.

♥ Milliande's Mixed Media Art Answer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ To create a collage art / craft product that is sellable several points are worth considering when choosing art supplies
archival quality of art supplies ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ a lot of found papers for collage come either from vintage papers, antique books or magazines so the quality of the paper may not be archival -- which means it is prone to yellow and get brittle with age
Copyright of collage paper ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ when considering seeling yoru artwork the copyright of the collage papers is worth checking out, magazines and stock phtography are often ok to use for personal and non-profit arts and craft projects but not necessarily for artowrk for sale
Glue for Collage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ for collage papers a good archival glue that does not contain a large amount of water to reduce buckling of the paper is useful ... I prefer the Golden Acrylic Mediums , a good all rounder is the Soft Gel medium in matte which is also useful for doing collage paper transfers ..
Golden Acrylic Mediums offer a range of consistency from pourable to moldable, with various levels of transparency and finish. Experimentation is recommended. Mediums may be used to create glazes, extend paints, build texture, change finishes, or as a gluing agent for collage projects.
A cheaper alternative maybe modge podge ..but I am not sure of its archival quality ..maybe someone else reading this might be able to comment :-)
