Mixed Media Art Questions - Ask Milliande
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
..."In your weathered backgrounds video,(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZxCEWi3y4s) you apply gel medium to top and bottom of paper and when dried, you rub it off with water. Specifically, which type of Gel Medium are you using? I know it's Golden brand, but I'm not sure which variety it is. Thank you so much...I love this Ask Milliande idea!
~ At the Weathered Background Technique Video I use
Golden Soft Gel Medium in Matte
~ Golden Art Supplies lists the following for the Soft Gel medium :
"Soft Gel Soft Gel ist Thinner than Golden Heavy Body Acrylic colors, these gels are moderately pourable, hold only slight peaks, may be brushed on as varnish, and are ideal for glazing and other techniques that require transparency.
~ Soft Gels Mediums can also be used to create a non-removable isolation coat over any painting. To do so, gels must be thinned with water at a two-to-one ratio, and applied prior to any coats of varnish. Available in Gloss, Matte, and Semi-Gloss. .."
~ The Weathered Background Technique works particularly well with the kind of material that old magazines are covered with --as it is not very colourproof and can easily be transferred...with old photos it may not work as well... as that is usually much heavier and different coating
Hope this helps
I am intriqued by the notion of universal consciousness and choose to peek closely at the small particles that make up existence.
Human and living form cell biology, the interplay of microcosm and macrocosm, quantumphysics and the spiritual connection to the Self all nurture me with an endless stream of inspiration.
The female form and its nature of being, the beauty of motherhood, viewing the world in fragments rather than wholes and the palpable energy exchange and communication between them are central themes in my artwork.
I enjoy making the invisible visible and creating openended visual artworks that invite the viewer to explore deeper within their own layers of perception.
Contemporary Mixed media art techniques provide a rich playground for my artistic impulses and allow room for an individual approach to the multilayered facets of my artwork.
