I want to make a journal and I want to also include paint with 3d objects and stuff.
Most of the papers I have chose warp or just do not do well. Any suggestions.
I want to load them with gesso and paint too.
Thanks for any help.

Mixed Media Art Questions answered by Milliande
Hi Kathy,
mostly for Mixed Media Art Journaling a strong heavyweight paper is necessary in order to stand up to the wetness and weight of a lot of mixed media layering techniques used in Art Journaling.
Many people use a frugal approach , either with cheaper journals or altering old book by glueing several pages together ( I usually use 3-4 pages glued into 1) before applying gesso as a base layer for working on.
For making homemade art journals Fabriano cold pressed watercolor paper is an alternative choice, or indeed any heavyweight watercolor paper that is designed to withstand some water/heavy duty layering ..... one can choose between hot pressed/ and cold pressed ... either a soft surface suitable for thin pen and ink lines too or a rough surface suitable for collaging , layering and adding mixed media paint effects.
All types of paper can ge sealed with gesso to give an even tooth to work upon .
Another way is to recycle old filefolders, cardboard packaging and even loose canvas to create a surface for your art journal to work on ..
So as a general rule when buying an art journal I would say look out : the heavier the gram/weight of paper the easier to hold lots of layers .
hope this helps

I am intriqued by the notion of universal consciousness and choose to peek closely at the small particles that make up existence.
Human and living form cell biology, the interplay of microcosm and macrocosm, quantumphysics and the spiritual connection to the Self all nurture me with an endless stream of inspiration.
The female form and its nature of being, the beauty of motherhood, viewing the world in fragments rather than wholes and the palpable energy exchange and communication between them are central themes in my artwork.
I enjoy making the invisible visible and creating openended visual artworks that invite the viewer to explore deeper within their own layers of perception.
Contemporary Mixed media art techniques provide a rich playground for my artistic impulses and allow room for an individual approach to the multilayered facets of my artwork.
